A Policy for the Re-Activation of Long COVID-19 Patients

A Policy for the Re-Activation of Long COVID-19 Patients

A similarity of symptoms and dysfunction is clinically observed between Long COVID-19 patients and patients with autonomic dysfunctions, chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. The content of the proposed bio-psychosocial case management rehabilitation program is based on the muscle fiber type composition, a novel policy aimed at priming Type-1 muscle fibers, the energy-saving function of the…

Proposal For A New Pedagogical Approach In Teaching Anatomy To Medical Students, Part I: Fascia Continuity In The Anatomy Curriculum

Proposal For A New Pedagogical Approach In Teaching Anatomy To Medical Students, Part I: Fascia Continuity In The Anatomy Curriculum

Medical students and post-graduate medical specialists, for example, physicians, surgeons, anaesthesiologists and gynaecologists require more than a simple impression of anatomy. A consensus exists that the study of anatomy by dissection provides the most realistic command of continuity, and embryological forming, essential for safe, effective clinical practice in medicine. Evidence demonstrates effective pedagogies are linked to…

The War on Pain – Learn to recognise and treat what expert manual therapist John Sharkey calls “fascia tuning pegs and places of perilous passage”

The War on Pain – Learn to recognise and treat what expert manual therapist John Sharkey calls “fascia tuning pegs and places of perilous passage”

It should be recognised that the connective tissue fascia, and its ubiquitous nature, has, for decades been neglected and underappreciated in spite of the efforts of several prominent anatomists to draw attention to it. Surgeons in training need to be aware that knowledge of fascia anatomy allows for minimally disrupting connective tissue in one body region thereby significantly reducing risk of pain and loss of function in local or more anatomically distant regions.

Fascia Focused Manual Therapy Interventions-Proposed Treatment for Post-COVID Syndrome

Fascia Focused Manual Therapy Interventions-Proposed Treatment for Post-COVID Syndrome

ABSTRACT The novel virus identified as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus [SARS-CoV-2] has resulted in the Coronavirus disease [COVID-19] worldwide pandemic. Confirmed cases of COVID-19 has surpassed 57 million people globally and numbers are exponentially increasing weekly. Significant numbers of recovering patients are reporting long-term, on-going painful soft tissue and respiratory complications. While the total…

Fascia and Tensegrity The Quintessence of a Unified Systems Conception

Fascia and Tensegrity The Quintessence of a Unified Systems Conception

Abstract The heterogeneous connective tissue fascia is constructed upon a tensegrity-based architecture providing cells and organism’s with stability coupled with mobility. A term coined by Sharkey and Avison “Fasciategrity” used for the first time at the British Fascia Symposium 2018, speaks of the relationship of balance and integrity within the fascial net. Tensegrity construction principles…
