Workshop Aims:
This is an unusual practical workshop devised to deliver safe, effective evidence-based Ultrasound underpinned by key aspects of theory. Moreover, this workshop offers a multifactorial approach with the aim of optimising the healing process and enhancing recovery with respect to the scientific principles of tissue-healing. We use 1 & 3 MHz frequencies, admirably complemented by appropriate Manual Therapy and Rehabilitation techniques for each of the respective progressive phases of tissue healing.

Workshop Rationale:
Therapeutic Ultrasound (US) is arguably the most widely used Electrotherapy modality in the UK. To be safe and clinically effective – the Therapist must use appropriate evidence-based setting with respect to phases of tissue healing. US can be delivered within a few minutes and can be very effective especially when used within a multifactorial approach i.e. when combined with appropriate Manual Therapy & Rehabilitation techniques. Research clearly demonstrates that a multifactorial and/or multidisciplinary approach is superior to a unilateral or mono-disciplinary approach. Put simply, it is quite clear that no one speciality or single treatment has all the answers.

• Concept & benefits of a multifactorial and/or multidisciplinary approach
• Theory of phases of tissue healing and their relevance
• Establishing appropriate US settings with respect to the phases of tissue healing
• Consideration to using appropriate Manual Therapy & Rehab for each stage of healing
• Practical sessions
• Case studies
• Review of above

If you already possess an Ultrasound machine you may have the opportunity to bring it along and seek individual guidance in operational aspects. However, this is subject to prior arrangement and agreement.

Workshop Outcomes:
On completion of this one 1-day workshop, delegates should be confident, safe and effective in the delivery of evidence-based ultrasound. Moreover, they should possess the necessary knowledge and practical skills to deliver Ultrasound in combination with appropriate manual therapy and rehabilitation techniques throughout the progressive stages of tissue healing and recovery.
