This course will give added skills in the appropriate management and rehabilitation of athletes suffering from sporting Injuries and other conditions. These may include traumatic injuries and the broad ranging effects of overuse. The course aims to provide you with the knowledge and skills to be able to assess the effects of sports injuries on the musculo-skeletal system and physical performance, and to be able to prescribe exercise programmes for effective correctional and rehabilitation purposes.

We will take you through a structured approach of each stage of rehabilitation towards normal daily, and on to full competitive activity. Consideration will be given to a range of sporting conditions including traumatic and overuse, plus the appropriate management of athletes to help achieve a full recovery by restoring all aspects of physical fitness including tensile strength, flexibility, normal movement patterns, endurance, power, proprioception, skills and speed.

All components of performance will be examined and a system of functional progressions utilised to ensure athletes are tested and fully prepared for a return to sport. A range of therapeutic exercises and drills may be prescribed to help an athlete attain full functional fitness, as well as help prevent injuries and other conditions recurring.

Our Level 4 Diploma students will already be familiar with the principles of injury rehabilitation and we look forward to exploring in greater depth to broaden your knowledge and skills still further.

This course forms a compulsory Module towards our Level 5 Advanced Practitioner Award, or may be taken as CPD.
